The Great Pumpkin Run

This morning Matt ran in The Great Pumpkin Run. We all headed out to cheer him on. They had a costume contest, face painting, and pumpkin carving. We had lots of fun. Daddy did great and set a new record for his 5K time, we are proud of him, he's one fast Daddy.



Anna Claire changed her mind on her costume (no surprise) at 8:00 this morning. She went in some of her dress up clothes as a bride, turned out pretty cute. It was too cold for Leighton to wear his. My blushing bride

Baby #3

We have a new name for baby girl #3.

From my last post you probably read her first name is going to be Marietta. It's a family name from Matt's side. My father-in-law had a sister that died very young, I think around 18 months named Marietta. We have been working on the middle name and Anna Claire's good friend Luke has helped us out.

My good friend Brandi has an adorable and funny son named Luke that is 3, (Anna Claire loves Luke). Here's what Brandi emailed me about having a conversation with Luke about Anna Claire's baby sister and what her name would be.

Here's how it went down:

From Brandi:

Just wanted you to know that I asked Luke about your baby…here’s how the conversation went:

M: “Anna Claire is going to have a baby sister soon. A girl baby. What do you think she should name her?”
L: “what about Baby Leighton. Who’s gonna take him”
M: “Oh, they are definitely keeping Leighton. And, they are going to have another baby soon”
L: “We need another baby too because Abram is all growed up. We should get a girl baby next, no a boy baby”
M: “But, what about Anna Claire’s baby? What should they name that baby?”
L: “Oh, Baby Beluga”

Hahaha…as in the whale.

Leighton at 17 months (almost 18)

I wanted to get some things down about what Leighton is up to these days. Whew....where do I start???? My boy is a mess.

Somethings about Leighton right now:



1. loves pumpkins...he calls them tumpkins. He loves them.

2. He hits his sistser a lot.

3. New favorite words are mine, poop, pumpkin, top, truck.

4. Anything thats Matt's he points to and says dada. (running shoes, shaving cream, diet coke can)

5. Constantly says "mama." When he's at my moms he walks up to my mom holds his arms out and says mama. So maybe all his women are mama. :)

6. He's a big baby.....always wants to be held.

7. He's finally sleeping most of the night.

8. Hugs me and pats my back.....i love it!

9. He sings a lot. Especially Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. When I put him down at night I sing it and he hums it back to me.

10. He loves to be outside, asks to go out all day long.

11. He's jealous when sister gets in my lap.....he will love it when Marietta arrives (baby #3). :)

12. He still drinks out of a bottle at bedtime.

13. He holds his arms up and says hold...as in hold me.

14. He goes to Jee Jee's house every now and then and loves it.

15. He eats pretty well. Dosen't like a lot of meat, but why would he since we don't eat a lot of it.

16. Runs wide open when he runs.

17. He's so special to his family. What did we do before our boy! (spoiled Anna Claire, still do)

18. He won't nap or sleep with us. I guess that's a good thing.

19. He climbs on everything.

Pictures and Soccer

Anna Claire started playing soccer. Let's just say thus far it's not her thing. Matt is the coach and is having so much fun with it. Everyone else on the team is either really into it or getting that way except Anna Claire. She doesn't want to go to the games at all :) She doesn't like the uniform (I guess it's not girly enough), she doesn't want to go in the game when called in, and the funniest part is when she gets in, I will have to take some video of it. She hangs her head, walks at a snails pace, and just looks miserable. It is so funny. Needless to say this will be our last soccer season unless things turn around. At least we know what she likes and DOESN'T like! She did tell Matt she will be more brave next time and that she doesn't like the yelling we (the parents do). She doesn't like the spot light in a big group, at home she LOVES the spot light.

Leighton on the other hand loves to kick the ball and maybe he will play his daddy's beloved sport. Matt is enjoying the coaching and it's fun to watch anyway.First practice. She likes the practice, just not the games.

We had a great weekend, just hanging out and enjoying Daddy being home, he's been traveling a lot! We played around with the camera as you can see.

These are some very true words that spoke to me that I read on our pastor's blog. It is the only comfort there is regarding our nations financial situation.....Here are the 3 very true points he made.

I found this today and it spoke to me because it is scary to watch what is happening on Wall Street and everywhere else. I am so grateful that we have such a strong leader for a pastor, a true man of God.
