4th of July

Of course summer is flying by. 

We had a great 4th of July weekend.


We went to a fun neighborhood party. The next day Matt and his dad ran in the firecracker 5k. It's always fun to go out and watch.

We did lots of fireworks which AC and Leighton LOVE. Leighton still talks about "fire cracks."

It RUNS in the family

Running that is.....

the daddy is a runner as is the grandpa. Naturally they have races in the front yard with "first girl" and "first boy" awards. Think they have been to some races in their life?

Best thing about Chicago

 

well, the deep dish pizza  and the fabulous sites are the best things about Chicago.Oh and watching my husband run the marathon.

of course Matt had to have pasta and pizza, makes him fast....... and me fast minus the S.


Did I mention the pizza...well we ate it again the second night and it was even better. I guess he will be super FAST and me....well I will be super fast too (minus the S of course). CHICAGO was a blast and I want to go back again next October.

Marathon success

He did it! Yeah! Matt finished the marathon in a fast 3 hours and 8 minutes.Boston here he comes.

Chicago bound

We are literally driving as I type. Yes, we are DRIVING to Chicago and it is nice and quiet in the car (an odd feeling for us). Matt is super excited about the Chicago Marathon coming up Sunday.  He is part of Team World Vision. World vision is  a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. You can read more from Matt here. Thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy cause. Drum roll....he has exceeded his goal and raised $665.00. Copple Sunday School Class you rock! What a blessing it is to be part of such a compassionate Christ centered group.

 I have to brag on my husband and tell  you that he is an amazing runner. As I always say he runs each of his 26.2 miles faster than I can run one mile. HA!

Dallas White Rock Marathon 2008

Maybe this will be a more organized post. We'll see.

So Matt ran in the Dallas White Rock Marathon and did great. Especially considering the weather was hot (warm for running long distance anyway). He finished in 3 hours and 18 min which is in the top 150 of 15,00 people. Pretty good I think. He still wants faster though, go figure. We are so proud of him.

Matt and I went just the two of us. Matt's parents and my parents kept the kids. We really enjoyed the quiet time!!!! I think the kids had fun too.

The Great Pumpkin Run

This morning Matt ran in The Great Pumpkin Run. We all headed out to cheer him on. They had a costume contest, face painting, and pumpkin carving. We had lots of fun. Daddy did great and set a new record for his 5K time, we are proud of him, he's one fast Daddy.



Anna Claire changed her mind on her costume (no surprise) at 8:00 this morning. She went in some of her dress up clothes as a bride, turned out pretty cute. It was too cold for Leighton to wear his. My blushing bride

Congratulations Matt!

Matt is now a marthoner! He ran the Dallas White Rock Marathon Sunday. He did it in a VERY fast 3 hours and 16 min. (did I mention it's his first one). I can't run one mile at the pace he did all 26.2 in. :) It's so amazing to me.

I think it's the first of many marathons for him, I believe he's hooked. We are so proud of him. His dedication and hard training paid off. 26.2 miles is a LONG way!
